Our computer lab serves students with up-to-date hardware, software and internet access. The lab consists of 24 computers, a SMART board, and a secure network with educational software for students to use. St. Paul Catholic School also uses digital document cameras/Elmos® in all K-6 classrooms. Each classroom has computers for student and teacher use. Additionallly, we have 3 Smartboards in classrooms throughout the school, including in the Pre-K. We have a long-range technology plan in place for 2012-2017 which includes upgrading and increasing computers in all the classrooms, new computer furniture, Smartboards for each classroom, and educational software. We have the philosophy that technology is a means to an end within education and not an end in and of itself. It serves as a means of motivation and increases the resources available to students in teachers. Most importantly it can be used as another way of presenting information and give students opportunities to learn life skills such as research skills, safety issues, and handling information so as to apply and evaluate it. |
